Political and Religious Expression BANNED: Yesterday, Omniscient created a new rule. This rule prevents members from utilizing their user titles, signatures, and avatars, to express any religious or political stance. Omniscient still encourages discussion on these hard-hitting topics in the Science, Religion, Philosophy, & Politics forum. With this rule in place, Omni has also updated the Help Documents, with a new page devoted Profile Violations! The name of the group is PHQE, and it stands for Project HQ Era. This new group is sponsored by The Alliance, and is devoted to encouraging users to create HQ content within this forum. Project HQ Era sponsors and engages in several forum activities, including but not limited to: Games, Tutorials, Program Coding, Graphic Design, Debates, and Fund-Raising. Robbieava has stated that 100% of the proceeds raised by PHQE will go directly back into HF, via upgrade, sticky purchase, or direct donation. Keep your eyes and ears open, as I am sure you will be hearing more about PHQE in the forthcoming weeks.

The annoying "Hey look the home button is flipping me off!" threads have gone on too long and are making many users mad about the constant new thread stating the same thing. Recently this week Omniscient came up with a great inside joke causing these threads to come from a joke to a idiotic idea to be posting it. Omniscient has decided that if a user makes a thread stating this, we have full permission to negative rep him. Soon members will be crying over their rep, but overall they will learn their lesson; Read the rules and announcements! Hopefully this wont have to be taken into action too much, but the announcement is there for future references.

Something Omniscient added late this week was the sellers section default sort. Omniscient stated "I've changed the default sort order in the Sellers Section to be based on thread creation. You can change the sort view for yourself on the bottom of the forum display page.This was done to make bumps in that section pointless.I will also be implementing a plug-in so that regular members can only make one thread per week, l33t 2 threads, and ub3r 3 threads per week. At least that's the plan. I may do this some other variation. It's just my first instinct. " This is a positive and negative idea, but will result in users being more cautious about what they post there! One user [[xvisceral]] stated "People will keep making threads to bypass it...Bumping should just be reportable as 'Sales Bumping', which will get your thread locked. " He does make a point! We'll see how it turns out!

This name was unknown to some and familiar to others. This was the name of my msn and it was based to frame me, but many users that would know that it was my msn name knows that I don't hack. Many users thought that the user "blinkman", who is now banned, was selling the database. Many users after that changed their passwords. Later today Omniscient confirmed that it was a hoax and that the two main perpetrators (paniK and fagalite) were perma banned and the others affiliated with this hoax were banned for two weeks. This week the user [https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=112139 Carbon] made a devastating thread about a very sad loss. His girlfriend was driving home and on her way, she was struck by a drunk driver. Her last few hours she was still thinking about our carbon. Do you consider yourself a hacker? Well shadowdeem this otherwise. He says that we don't know what we're talking about and to be honest, a lot of us really don't. In reality people overreacted IMO. They really took a problem that could have been forgave and forgotten, and blew it up to max proportions and made a big deal out of this. Remember people, although he may have been nicer before staff or not, he still has a job to do and regardless of who you are he can not give you any special benefits. He is doing his job, and if you think he's going to fast, you're wrong. He is getting used to the job quite quick, but we're all humans and we all make mistakes, so forgive the poor guy and get over it!

Omniscient also added a secret word for us users so then even if someone has hacked into your account they can't actually take the account where you can't get on. This means to change a password you have to also give the secret word! You had to create a question and an answer! Later this week he found a bug in it and had to reset them. Now it seems to be working fine and hopefully will keep members safe in the future!

Something Omniscient added late this week was the green msn-like Icon name next to your name. I like it because it's more noticeable to tell the difference between green and blue. Get ready to see about 100 threads on it for the next few weeks. This is going to be beneficial though for people with bad eyes. The hint of blue was not enough for some. Others may not like the change because the liked the hint of blue, but it doesn't make a big enough difference to worry about. Hopefully he keeps it!

Another thing that happened on Thursday was when Omniscient informed members that they could no longer change their birth date and it will stay the same forever. You can still hide the full date, you can also hide the date and just show your age or show the full date and age. Why did he do this? Too many trolls on their birthday was being made and it was flooding the lounge with "It's my birthday" posts. Now everyone who did that as a joke is stuck with that birth date on here! Trolls about users birth dates with proof of the date in their profile is physically impossible now, unless your birth date is already false! Nice one Omni!

Late Wednesday and early Thursday there was a big report build up.No staff was on for about 3 hours and there were many users reporting. N2H then came online and stated in a thread "I have 17 pages of reported posts who ever is lqping is fucked". After that statement him and Omni took down many reported posts. Before staff had came online users were posting many rule breaking threads and sales which resulted in a lot of bans last night. They had it taken care of and is in control now. Good work staff!

Finally, Today Omni also changed the report reason of signature limit to profile violation. This is so then if staff see a report as this, the staff will check the users profile for anything regarding the user that could be breaking a rule. Omni stated "Basically it's going to tell staff to view profile for a problem. Should be easy enough to spot." Seems to me that this report option is better than the one before! Omni stated that he was surprised that it isn't a 4chan hit yet! This has over 10k views and it's possible that it will go viral. "We now know what Omni does on his alone time" states -Nightmare jokingly. Pink Floyd also said that it's possible that this becomes the new rick roll! I could see that happening, but truthfully; What has internet videos come to? What will people have to do in 5 years to be famous? Who knows..

This week the user [https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=112139 Carbon] had found an interesting video in the web. He found a video about a UFO over china. Do you think it was another life form? Yes? no? I personally am shocked when the white light blast forward across the sky most likely going extremely fast. Another very interesting post has been discovered this week in the [https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=82 360 Section]. There is a new theme for the xbox slim; Halo reach. The main color is a Grey xbox with a very cool design around it! If you are interested in buying a new xbox I would suggest getting this one for the good quality along with a great style for $399! Our buddy [[Kr4z1]] has made a suggestion today to HF that we stop giving out stolen xbox live accounts. Not only did he give some good reasoning, he also quoted the [https://hackforums.net/misc.php?action=help HF Help Docs] and talked about them compared to this rule that he thinks should be made. He is right about the fact that these can contain CC's and then it would be breaking the rule of CC fraud.

The problem that even [[Kr4z1]] knows about is that the user would have to state it. His quote said "The only problem with this idea is that OP would need to state that the accounts are stolen, other than that the only way to prove that they are, is to buy them from OP. " This would mean that not only would we not know, but we would have to do potential illegal activity to find out! That's not a good sign! Omniscient stated "At this time I have no official comment on the matter. Rules are being considered and evaluated against current policy. "

Hopefully Omniscient finds a solution to this problem soon so that the most illegal activity possible in this situation can be terminated for good, or at least slowed down by his decision.

| HeadlinesContent = This week Hackforums had received a new easter egg that Omniscient made. He informed us about the easter egg on his twitter found here. What the easter egg was is a middle finger that would be in the spot of the "home" icon. This resulted in many new threads that were asking what it was and also telling what it was. If you still have yet to see it, keep an eye on the home icon sometimes because it's still there!

Omniscient's direct quote about the easter egg - "Added an Easter Egg to HF today. Let's see who finds it."

Omniscient also added a new button this week! It was added to everybody's reputation page. What it the button says is "report rep". When you click it it redirects you to the reputation segment in the [https://hackforums.net/misc.php?action=help Help Docs]. My guess is Omniscient was tired of the constant suggestion for that item. Two new interesting sections were made this week that gave a place for some people that wanted to request a specific item in privacy of their own vip-like lounge and another for people to give away items. Hopefully that will weed those type of threads out of the lounge and give more room for other important/playful matters.

Finally, the program spyeye has now been banned from discussion on this forum. This is because Omni has found out the truth behind another program that was being talked about lightly, but still appearing on occasion on the forum. It is a lot like Zeus which is a program that also steals bank account info. This is not something we would ever want on the site! She had a live cam making drawn sigs saying things and many skids thought that possibly she was boxxy. She recognized hackforums was a reoccurring name in requests for sigs, so she signed up to see what's the commotion and she also proved it was her by commenting on [https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=230404 Logan's] YouTube with her account. She seems to not be too interested in much that we hold here so hopefully we don't get someone just begging for attention! Another very sad thing happened this week. The user [https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=372441 32.exe] had impregnated his girlfriend on accident. I had a big argument in there with the guy, but I do understand that really it's both of the guy's and girls fault that a child is coming in to a what seems unsupported life.

He is/was considering leaving the girl which would/ will make matters worse for the girl and child. So much controversy was thrown around that thread. It was quick to realize he was not financially-able to support a child. Either way, regardless if a troll or not that should all teach a lesson to all users. When it comes to sex; put to on. This week our very triumphant member to hackforums, [[Yin]] had posted his whole life story as a user [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=548552 here]. He started it off by saying "Well, I just noticed I got 500 reputations, thanks XCH4NG3 for that by the way. For a year and 3-4 months, I've come a long way. Get prepared for a long read."

This member has been through many positive and negative experiences here. He is a diamond in many people's eyes. His long speech about his life ended in a list of his closest people he could think of and his opinion on them. He has always worked hardest at what he does and I wish the best for him forever to come.

Our good friend [https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=57913 killerpop89] was banned this week for being drunk and didn't even know until the next day! Basically, the purpose of the section is for you to get your site reviewed. This means, you can post your URL to your site, and get it reviewed by members. You can ask them to rate your theme, etc. It is also to show off your site that you made. This is what you should know before posting -

This week, Team SK1D infected their Skid Booter which was being sold on HackForums with the latest update. If you have not downloaded the update yet, DO NOT! It is INFECTED. Not much news at HackForums this week. When there isn't news, I don't really feel like I have to post anything. The news is mainly Headlines, that's the most important thing. This week, there was one, and it wasn't really a headline, but I guess you could call it that.

Modern Warfare 2 is an extremely popular game at the moment. This section will consist of prestige lobbies, maps, and just general gameplay. This should hopefully sort things in the Live Gaming section, as a ton of those threads were for Modern Warfare discussion.

The other section added this week, was the Halo forum. This is also a popular game, which sparked the section addition. The discussion will be about anything Halo related, from cheats, to ranks. Halo seems to be more of the discussion, with 836 threads compared to Modern Warfare's 720. A little fun fact about the 720 threads. Isn't it funny that there's going to be a Xbox 720 and there's 720 threads for Modern Warfare? However, some of the threads were not moved, so Modern Warfare probably out does the Halo subforum in terms of theads.

This week, there were a lot of DDoS attempts. Omniscient dealt with them swiftly, and laughed at the fail attempts of the DDoSers. These are quotes from after Omniscient dealt with multiple this week -

At most, it's an annoyance. There's not been many DDoS attacks that take us down for more than an hour or so, and usually, that's because Omniscient is sleeping, or is out from his home.

The last headline of the week, which wasn't too much of one, was pruning of private messages. Any REGULAR member (non l33t/ub3r/staff/admin), that were older than 6 months, were pruned. This erased PMs from many inactive people. One that came to the top of my head, was Vaqxine unless his was cleaned out. Vaqxine no longer has his staff position, and his L33T expired, and he did get a load of PMs (Vaqxination). There's also other members that have a lot of PMs that have not been touched for months. This cleared about 240MB of DB space in all of the 200,000 private messages deleted. Any extra DB space is great for the forum, and doesn't hurt.

The thread is basically him showing off his new site, www.gamephreak.com, which I thought was pretty interesting. To help him get a little boost off, I'm helping him out by posting this in this week's edition. This is much appreciated by the members that received it, and by me. I like seeing these acts of kindness, it brightens the mood! Wills got a drunk, a 14 year old woman seduced him, and had sexual intercourse with him, and he's released on bail until the 12th of July. The morale of the story? Alcohol does bad things to you. I have much respect to Wills for sharing his story, and admitting he was wrong. Much luck to him in his future endeavors.

HF User posted a thread [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=504225 here] about a thread that's a year old, in which a guy expressed his views about Omni. It's funny how dumb he is, but it's actually a pretty interesting thread. It's interesting in the fact that it got that far without being closed. It's 35 pages, so if you don't want to read it all, read the first and few last ones. Omniscient slammed the door on the thread with a "This show's over, it was fun though." post.

Recently, Omniscient put a rule for donations [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=487418 here]. The rule states no donation asking or begging for them. This will hopefully clear up the threads that are requesting money. However, this does not apply to signatures at this time. This means that you may post something in your signature, but not an annoying "DONATE NOW HERE RIGHT HERE NOW RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!" signature. The warning type for donation begging is a 10 point (50% limited, 100% ban). Also, for example, let's say you make a crypter and release it. Omniscient said this in response -

This is to discuss many sports, from MMA, to cricket. This will hopefully sort the World Cup threads (trending very popularly on HF at the moment) from The Lounge, as well as any other discussions like UFC. Will this become a popular Lounge section? We'll find out!

A few days ago, Omni made a choice for the future of HF hosting. He switched to Amazon Web Service's Cloud Hosting.

If you don't know what cloud hosting is, I'll tell you. Cloud hosting is usually operated on multiple connected servers. When you have regular dedicated or shared hosting, it's usually limited to a single server. Cloud Hosting is a pay per use type hosting. Some advantages of cloud hosting -

*When you use cloud web hosting, you will be free from those problems created by abrupt use of web site. It evenly balances across the complete network.

*When you use cloud web hosting, it allows you allocate the available resources from the pool to the desired location.

*When you use cloud hosting, failure of any software piece will not affect the website. This is a huge advantage to using cloud hosting.

*Probably the biggest advantage? The high scalability that allows fast scaling in resource consumption, which is either automatic or manually.

There are some downsides, such as security. They do have some protection, since major providers like Amazon for example, usually provide protection that doesn't allow unauthorized access. Omniscient purchased this for the jscript and CSS delivery. For now, it's somewhat of a "test" to see how it goes. Thanks Omni for getting high quality cloud web hosting! Amazon is a reputable dealer in the industry for cloud hosting.

Cubby posted a thread [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=486081 here] that asks you to text a random girl, and ask her "Hey baby, when are you going to let me tap that?" That seems somewhat weird! I'm sure a lot of people doing that are going to get slapped!

A few days ago, Omni made a choice for the future of HF hosting. He switched to Amazon Web Service's Cloud Hosting.

If you don't know what cloud hosting is, I'll tell you. Cloud hosting is usually operated on multiple connected servers. When you have regular dedicated or shared hosting, it's usually limited to a single server. Cloud Hosting is a pay per use type hosting. Some advantages of cloud hosting -

*When you use cloud web hosting, you will be free from those problems created by abrupt use of web site. It evenly balances across the complete network.

*When you use cloud web hosting, it allows you allocate the available resources from the pool to the desired location.

*When you use cloud hosting, failure of any software piece will not affect the website. This is a huge advantage to using cloud hosting.

*Probably the biggest advantage? The high scalability that allows fast scaling in resource consumption, which is either automatic or manually.

There are some downsides, such as security. They do have some protection, since major providers like Amazon for example, usually provide protection that doesn't allow unauthorized access. Omniscient purchased this for the jscript and CSS delivery. For now, it's somewhat of a "test" to see how it goes. Thanks Omni for getting high quality cloud web hosting! Amazon is a reputable dealer in the industry for cloud hosting.

Seems like Omniscient is trying to get us to become a healthier forum in terms of relationships with other people.Together, we can lighten the mood of all HackForums members.

Three sections were made this week, in hope for new changes of HackForums. The first one we'll talk about is [https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=163 Marketplace Discussions]. Marketplace Discussions is places to talk about the Marketplace, without making a thread in the inappropriate sections. It is also used for rules, policies, and feedback for the Marketplace. We suggest you read that section before conducting business to save yourself from getting warned.
The next section added was the [https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=165 Virtual Machines] section under Computing. This section is for protection, setup, and debugging for VMware, Suns VirtualBox, MS Virtual PC, Sandboxie, or any virtual environment you can think of. This was to put them in one section, as many of the times, they were in the wrong section. This should hopefully resolve some things.

This week, Omni posted a thread [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=474743 here] explaining the changes to black hat activity. We are making a push to become a white hat only site, and with that, comes the first big change. There is a second forum which you can read the whole details on the thread, but here's a direct quote from Omni himself -

Eventually that subforum will be deleted entirely.

One way we hope to direct members toward the new site is from warnings. When you are warned for certain activity you'll get a PM automatically asking you to join the new site and not continue having discussions on HF on that topic.

The new site will also require a referral from me or m4v3r1ck who is the admin there. All memberships will have to be manually approved on that site. You can PM him here to ask for referral. All ub3r and l33t can get a VIP membership automatically on that site.

I'm sure this post will raise a lot of questions and I'll do my best to provide answers. You might consider this the end of HF but I consider it a new beginning. I'll have other very wonderful and positive news to give members in the coming weeks. I'll continue to improve HF and make our community even stronger.

[https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=269895 Eddan] accused mothered in [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=447404 this] thread of being a robot because of his unlikely structures for a high post member. Some of the accusations were based on him having 0 of a bunch of things (0 awards, 0 posts in The Lounge, 0 reported posts), and his "robotic" post structure, with a "Cheers :)" at the end of every post. There were valid, and invalid points, but Omni didn't want to listen to it and closed it up with this, and I quote -

This week, there was an iPhone surge! Sellers were selling iPhones everywhere here on HF, for low cheap prices. What did HF have to say about it? "JOY! CHEAP IPHONES!", when really, they were scammed.

Sellers like Crust, and iPhoneSeller, used fraud techniques to get these phones, and sent to you. The reason why they used dropshipping (most did), is for more safety to the buyer. Regardless, you could still get in trouble, and if you didn't end up purchasing one of these iPhones, well, that's good for you. You saved yourself some trouble in the coming weeks. Some things are just too good to be true.

HackForums has 4 servers now! This doesn't seem big compared to games like Runescape, but for a forum, it's very good. This should hopefully keep the site running smooth. Here's the direct quote from Omni himself :

"Anyways I had planned on adding this fourth server as it was donated by a member a couple months ago. I've just now gotten it setup for use. It's a great server especially given it's a donated one. Since it's not in the same datacenter there are limitations for it's use. However it's perfect for backup and redundancy. I've also decided to serve all the javascript files from it. This alleviates apache some work on the HF main server and also I/O of the hard drive. So far so good after about 18 hours. No complaints and smooth as can be.

It's at Vuwin.com/jscripts so if you see that domain it's not a XSS or hack. It's regular usage of HF. Please notify me if any of your AVs or Malware detectors go off for HF or Vuwin.

I will probably also move the css to that server but that's slightly more complicated so I'll wait till next week.

All this to help keep HF up and running as fast and smooth as possible.

And for those considering attacking it. It has the same security as all my servers. And I can disable it's usage here with one click. That's not an invite either but a notice that attacking it is going to be a waste of your time not mine.

One great thing about this is that users are now even less likely to trigger the firewall and be blocked. It's just that many less connects you make to HF.

I have some plans this summer that once implemented will severely limit DDOS attacks. Eventually we will out hardware 99% of attacks. At this point most attacks are stopped quickly and our downtime is minimal. As usual I'll continue to harden HF as I learn and we grow.

Omniscient cleared the 500,000+ posts in the Junk forum. This caused many members to lose posts. Staff were hit the hardest, as they get +1 when they junk a thread. The highest losing victims were Yin, [[iBruteforce]], and Kutmustakurt.

There has been a PHP forum added by Omniscient. This was a request which can be found [https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=409832 here]. The section was added on May 11th, and is already becoming a success.

Omniscient added a filter to the minimum characters in posts. It changed from 20 to 25, which means you now need 25 characters in a post or you may not post.

Another update this week was a non HF L33T/UB3R change. This means registered members (non l33t/ub3r) may only post 10 times in the Lounge per day. This is in hopes to stop spam, and low quality posts.

This week we have also hit 95,000 reported posts. The totals are as follows -

6873 flaming

5671 spamming
